likely expectations following Davido, Wizkid Sony/RCA deal

As Nigerian music continues to attract all the international recognition there is, putting on the world stage, it behoves us to analyze the current deals Wizkid and Davido have with Sony and
RCA.

With Davido, we are certain there is a music deal between him and Sony/ RCA as we have seen over the course of 2016.

However, we can’t exactly say same for Wizkid who has reportedly signed on to the American music giants going by news doing the rounds.

Whatever the case, it isn’t out of place to expect a Wizkid music deal with Sony. He has earned his stripes today as far as world music recognition of African pop sounds are concerned.
It goes without saying that he is the first Nigerian artiste to sit atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart for his collaborative effort with Drake on One Dance.
He has also scored several other collaborations here and there, most of which remain unreleased.

And so looking at the current trend of things and putting this side by side the reported Sony deal, we consider five likely expectations from Wizkid and Davido as they get into the mix with the new Sony/ RCA music deals:
1. More money- The new deal with Wizkid is reportedly the biggest any African artiste has ever got from an American music company. Also, insiders say the deal puts him in same category with Davido as per financial returns and overall benefits. Lastly, sources in the know say he is expected to get a seven figure cheque upon signing to the music giants. All of these say a lot and show clearly that both stars aren't on the level of just any other African entertainer out there as it stands.
2. International recognition – With Sony/RCA comes international push, recognition and clout.
The Nigerian pop stars aren't likely to lack any of these and more, as long as they remain musically relevant in the core of things.
3. International collaborations – As much as they have collaborated with several top American artistes given their individual successes, the new music deal sure brings loads more in terms of this potential and we will most likely be seeing more of those A-list collaborations. Only a matter of time.
4. Better outputs based on working with professionals – Boith pop stars are expected to work with some of the best hands in the industry and it will clearly impact on their works  positively, not a drop of doubt about this.
5. Likelihood to lose creative control – As a result of the fact that the system at Sony/ RCA is more regulated, more subject to external influences and what not, Davido and Wizkid aren't likely to release as much materials or influence their music as much as they used to. A simple test of this is analysing their careers since they got on their current 'American sojourn', it's not the same.
A lot goes into plugging music internationally, shooting videos and setting the right PR mechanisms in motion and all of this will be decisions from the authorities directing the trend of things as against what it used to be for both stars. But whatever the case, here's hoping they emerge victorious in the end as Dbanj's era with GOOD Music under Kanye West was nothing short of a fiasco.
